Raigad (Maharashtra), Aug. 1 -- Maharashtra police today seized packets containing more than 11kg narcotic substances worth over Rs 55 lakh at Kashid beach in Murud, Raigad district.
The beach is a popular tourist hub known for its white sand, blue waters, and quiet atmosphere.
"The packets contained 11 kg 148 grams of charas (hashish), valued at Rs 55.74 lakh. The seizure created a stir not only in Murud taluka but across the Konkan coastline," said police.
Murud police station Inspector Parshuram Kamble said he received information about a suspicious plastic bag lying on Kashid beach. He immediately informed Alibaug sub-divisional officer Pratiksha Khetmalis and other senior officers.
