Belagavi, May 30 -- The recent suspension of Veeranna Madiwalara, a nationally recognised headmaster of a government school in Karnataka's Belagavi district, has triggered protests by the opposition BJP and education activists.

Veeranna Madiwalara, who transformed the government lower primary school in Nidgundi into one of the best in the country despite severe infrastructural shortages, was suspended after staging a peaceful protest to demand additional classrooms. His repeated appeals highlighting the acute shortage of rooms necessary for quality education went ignored by the authorities.
