Palghar, July 1 -- An 11-year-old student died from suspected snakebite at a school in Wada taluka, Palghar district, police said today.
The incident occurred on June 26, with the victim identified as Class 5 student Vedika Zate.
Wada Police Senior Inspector Datta Kindre stated preliminary accounts from classmates indicate a snakebite as the cause, though authorities await formal postmortem confirmation. "An accidental death report has been registered pending investigation," Kindre added.
The girl's parents have alleged critical treatment delays by school authorities in transporting her to a medical facility.
The case remains under investigation while forensic results are pending.
