Gangtok, July 22 -- In a major development in the fight against drug-related crimes in Sikkim, the police have registered a case under the NDPS Act after a significant seizure of suspected brown sugar from a hotel room in Gangtok.
The case was registered under Sadar Police Station FIR No. 99/2025 dated July 21, 2025, under Section 22(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
According to a police report, at around 9:29 PM on Monday, police personnel from Sadar Police Station received specific instructions from the Station House Officer (SHO) to proceed to a hotel located in the Panihouse area of Gangtok.
