Gadchiroli, Feb. 19 -- After more than four decades in the forests of central India, former senior Maoist leader Mallojula Venugopal Rao, popularly known as Bhupathi, has declared that armed revolution has failed and urged remaining cadres to join the mainstream.

Bhupathi, once a member of the Politburo and Central Committee of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), surrendered in Gadchiroli district on October 15, 2025, along with 60 cadres.

Over 70 cases linked to Naxal violence had been registered against him in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli alone.
