Bengaluru, Sept. 17 -- Congress leader and AICC General Secretary in charge of Karnataka, Randeep Singh Surjewala, today wrote a detailed letter to union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, demanding the immediate release of 3.36 lakh metric tonnes of urea fertilizer pending for Karnataka.

Surjewala emphasised that timely supply of fertilizers is critical for the state's farmers, particularly as the monsoon season has begun earlier than usual this year.

In his letter, Surjewala highlighted that rainfall in Karnataka has been about three per cent above normal, prompting an early start to the sowing season.
