Nagpur, Oct. 26 -- : A sharp rise in the number of kidnappings of minor girls has been reported from states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), according to data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

The data reveals that over 60 girls are abducted daily on average in BJP-ruled states, raising serious concerns over the safety of children in these regions.

In 2023, more than 25,000 cases of underage girls being kidnapped were recorded in three BJP-led states alone-Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. By contrast, non-BJP states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Jharkhand reported significantly lower numbers with a combined total of just over 2,200 abductions.
