Shimla, Sept. 25 -- In Himachal Pradesh's rural landscape, fisheries are fast emerging as a lifeline for unemployed youth and small farmers. Thanks to the state government's ambitious Chief Minister's Carp Fisheries Scheme, lives are transforming, and one such inspiring story comes from Gansot village in Solan district.

Until recently, farmer Surendra Pal cultivated his 15 bighas of land, struggling to make ends meet. But a new opportunity knocked when he learned about the Carp Fisheries Scheme. Motivated, he approached the Fisheries Department, prepared his project, and soon received approval along with a grant of Rs 3.20 lakh, 80 per cent assistance, for pond construction.
