Nagpur, Oct. 13 -- Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule today demanded the expulsion of Sangram Jagtap, MLA from the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP, for his controversial statement urging Hindus to purchase Diwali goods only from Hindu-owned shops.
Talking to reporters in Nagpur, Ms Sule said that Jagtap's remarks were divisive and went against the spirit of the Constitution.
"Our country runs according to the Constitution, not on anyone's whims," she said, adding that issuing a show-cause notice is not enough, he should be removed from the party.
Addressing a party event at Kondhali, Ms Sule also criticised the Maharashtra government for failing to deliver on its promise of a complete farm loan waiver.
