New Delhi, Feb. 3 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday raised serious concerns over the functioning and membership practices of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA), while hearing petitions challenging the Bombay High Court's order staying the MCA elections.

The Court emphasised the need for experienced and retired cricketers to be part of cricket associations to ensure transparency, credibility, and expert governance.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice Vipul Pancholi was hearing a petition challenging the Bombay High Court order, which stayed the MCA elections scheduled for January 6.
