Kolkata, Jan. 12 -- Justice Sujoy Paul has been recommended as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court by the Supreme Court Collegium on Monday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Supreme Court Collegium held on January 9, 2026, where the name of Justice Paul, who is currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the high court was cleared for appointment as the permanent Chief Justice of the Calcutta High CourtThe Collegium stated that Justice Sujoy Paul, whose parent High Court is the Madhya Pradesh High Court, will take over as the permanent Chief Justice once the union Law Ministry issues the formal notification.
