Bhubaneswar, Jan. 6 -- In a landmark advancement in respiratory medicine, the Pulmonary Medicine team at the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) and SUM Hospital-2, Phulnakhara, has successfully performed eastern India's first navigation-guided bronchoscopic cryobiopsy on a lung cancer patient.

The breakthrough procedure, a major step forward in the early diagnosis and curative management of lung cancer, was carried out on a 57-year-old man from Digapahandi in Ganjam district. The patient had been experiencing right-sided chest pain, persistent cough, and shortness of breath for two months.
