Lucknow, Nov. 11 -- Sugar production in Uttar Pradesh is expected to remain nearly stable despite a slight decline in sugarcane acreage during this 2025-26 season.
As per preliminary estimates from the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), sugar production in Uttar Pradesh may increase by about 2 per cent in 2025-26.
According to officials, however, this increase will not be enough to keep Uttar Pradesh as the country's top producer, as Maharashtra is projected to see a significant jump in production.
ISMA has projected an 18.5 per cent increase in sugar production nationwide. According to the report, sugar production in Maharashtra could increase by 39 percent, an increase from last year.
