Mumbai, Aug. 5 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today assured that pigeon houses that were abruptly shut and covered with tarpaulin sheets will be reopened.



Emphasising that the sudden closure was not appropriate, he stated that necessary steps will be taken to address concerns without harming the sentiments of animal lovers and the Jain community.



A high-level meeting was held under the leadership of CM Fadnavis to discuss the issue of pigeon houses and the relocation of the elephant Mahadevi from the Nandani Math to the Vantara Wildlife Centre.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Ministers Chandrakant Patil, Girish Mahajan, Hasan Mushrif, and Prakash Abitkar were present.
