Agartala, Feb. 8 -- Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) completed a trial run of the first goods train with an electric locomotive between southern Assam's Badarpur station and Tripura's Jirania station, about 15 km to Agartala this week, officials said here.

Trains in the entire southern part of Northeast from Guwahati covering South Assam, Tripura, and Mizoram have been running with diesel engines, and electrification work of railway lines has been going on for the last two years, which is expected to be completed by the next three months if power supply companies provide electricity, officials stated.
