Azamgarh, Nov. 25 -- Lal Bahadur Prasad, a sub-inspector posted at Deogaon Police Station in Azamgarh district, was arrested after he was found guilty of demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 in exchange for removing names from a case file, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The action was taken following a complaint filed by the victim, leading to his suspension and subsequent arrest. The incident has caused a stir within the police department.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Anil Kumar emphasised that corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances. In a surprising turn of events, the accused officer was arrested from the same police station where he was deployed.
