Moradabad, Jan. 9 -- Moradabad witnessed a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns about student safety after an attempt was allegedly made to burn a student alive in the name of a prank at a reputed Hindu college in the city, police said on Friday.

According to police, a B.Com third-year student was doused with a flammable substance and set on fire on the college premises.

The victim sustained burn injuries to the lower part of his body, estimated at around 8 per cent, and was immediately admitted to a hospital for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.

The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Sadar Kotwali police station. Police have arrested the accused student, identified as Aarush.
