Kolkata, July 18 -- A fourth-year undergraduate student, identified
as Ritam Mondal (21) was found
hanging in his hostel room in the campus of IIT(Kharagpur).
Police said the student was found hanging by a rope in his hostel room (203) of Rajendra Prasad campus of IIT (K) today.
They said the IIT (K) authorities informed the Hijli Police Phari around 11 am about the hanging body of the student.
The body and taken to the BC Roy
Hospital, where it was declared dead on arrival.
The body was taken for post mortem to determine the cause of the
death. Police believe it to be a case of
suicide.
The institute also informed the relatives about the student's death.
