Chennai, Oct. 16 -- Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare MinisterMa Subramanian today informed the State Assembly that strict actionwas initiated to curb the alleged illegal kidney racketat a private hospitalin Namakkal district of the state and that two people were already arrestedin this connection.

Replying to a Special Calling Attention Motion given notice of by membersof various parties in the Assembly, the Minister said the two arrested hadacted as middlemen.

He also said all organ transplant surgeries in the hospital, where thealelged racket had taken place, were banned.
