Thiruvananthapuram, April 6 -- Just days ahead of Kerala's crucial Assembly elections on April 9, an adverse weather forecast has cast a shadow over polling prospects, with political parties expressing concern that thunderstorms and scattered rainfall could affect voter turnout across the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a detailed warning indicating that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in Kerala on April 5 and 6. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue on April 7 and 8, with thunderstorms and gusty winds in the range of 30-40 kmph.
