New Delhi, April 9 -- Indian stock markets today came under selling pressure after a sharp surge in the previous session with both the BSE Sensex slumping by 931.25 points or 1.20 per cent to 76,631.65 and the NSE Nifty dipping by 222.25 points or 0.93 per cent to 23,775.10, due to sell-off in Oil & Gas, Banking, Auto, Infra, Consumer Durables and Media sectors coupled with subdued global cues.
Nifty Midcap index added 0.3 pc and Smallcap index ended on a flat note.
Among the sectors, Metal, Power, Pharma added 0.6-1pc, while Oil & Gas, PSU Bank, Auto, Infra, Consumer Durables, Media, and Private Bank shed between 0.3-2 pc.
