New Delhi, Jan. 9 -- The India stock markets today ended lower for the fourth consecutive session today, with the BSE Sensex plummeting by 604.72 points or 0.72 per cent to 83,576.24 and the NSE Nifty sliding by 193.55 points or 0.75 pc to 25,683.30.
Notably, the market sentiment remained weaker amid global headwinds. The Venezuela-US standoff, concerns over Russian oil imports and continued FII outflows remained key focus areas.
In the last week, the benchmark indices corrected sharply, as the Nifty ended 2.37 pc lower while the Sensex was down by 2,185 points.
The BSE Midcap index dropped 0.90 pc while the Smallcap index plunged 1.74 pc.
