New Delhi, Dec. 31 -- Indian stock market on Wednesday ended the final trading session of 2025 on a strong note. Nifty closed above 26,100 amid the broad-based rally led by sectors such as metal, PSU Bank, oil & gas, while the IT sector lagged behind.

At close, Sensex was up 545.52 points or 0.64% at 85,220.60, and the Nifty was up 190.75 points or 0.74% at 26,129.60. The BSE Midcap index rose by 1%, while the Smallcap index jumped 1.19%. The overall market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms rose to nearly Rs 476 lakh crore from Rs 472 lakh crore in the previous session.
