Srinagar, Dec. 16 -- Rajya Sabha members of the National Conference submitted a memorandum to union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, urging him to review the policy of lodging J&K prisoners in distant jails, restore full statehood, and notify Business Rules to ensure effective and democratic governance in Jammu and Kashmir .

In a two-page memorandum, MPs Chowdry Ramzan, Sajjad Kitchloo and Gurwinder Singh Oberoi said the issues highlighted were of "profound constitutional, democratic and humanitarian importance" to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The MPs drew the attention of the Home Minister to the suffering of thousands of families whose relatives are lodged in prisons outside the union Territory.
