Shimla, Sept. 28 -- The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has directed the district revenue authorities of Solan to probe allegations of stamp duty evasion in a land deal.

The directive follows a complaint filed by Hans Raj, a resident of Bilaspur district, who alleged that a buyer undervalued the land to evade stamp duty by showing incorrect categorization of the plots.

In its communication, the Bureau emphasized that while no inquiry has been conducted at its level, the district administration must examine the matter in detail as per departmental rules.

If any vigilance angle emerges, the case could be escalated for a full investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
