Gangtok, July 18 -- A recipient of Padma Shri, Gadul Singh Lama popularly known as Sanu Lama who passed away on July 12, was accorded a state funeral today in Gangtok.
Sanu Lama was an acclaimed author, lyricist, who gave Sikkim its national song 'Jaha Bagcha Teesta Rangeet', during the erstwhile Chogyal regime.
On Friday, Sanu Lama's funeral procession was attended by Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay along with cabinet ministers and citizens from across the state.
He will be cremated as per Buddhist tradition at Decheling creamatorium.
