Shimla, March 21 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a significant reduction in stamp duty for women, alongside a major push to simplify land ownership documentation, as part of the state budget presented on Friday.

In a move aimed at promoting property ownership among women, the government has reduced stamp duty on land registration in the name of women by four per cent. The concession would now apply to property transactions valued up to Rs 1 crore, an increase from the earlier ceiling of Rs 80 lakh.
