Chennai, May 2 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin on Friday presented the Nammazhwar awards to three farmers for exceleing in organic farming this year.

The farmers who received the awards named after organic farming expert Nammazhwar, were from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Nagapattinam districts.

At a function held at the State Secretariat here, Mr Stalin presented the awards to first prize winner G. Sampathkumar (Coimbatore), second prize winner T. Jagadeesh (Tiruppur) and third prize winner V. Kalidoss (Nagapattinam).

While the first prize carried a cheque for Rs 2.5 lakh and a medal, the second and third prize carried a cheque for Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively, and a medal. UNI GV 1620
