Chennai, Sept. 15 -- A novel scheme to support the uninterrupted education of children either orphaned or with disabled single parent, christened 'Anbu Karankal' (Arms of Love), was formally launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in Chennai on Monday.

In the first phase, 6,082 children have been identified to be eligible under this scheme. They would get Rs 2,000 deposited directly into their bank account till they attain the age of 18. For their further studies and for skill development, the state government will take necessary steps.
