Chennai, Aug. 20 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin today condemned
the Assam Police for booking two journalists on sedition charges and termed it as an attempt to
to suppress independent journalism.
He said if asking questions was treated as sedition then democracy could not survive.
In a post on X, he said "I strongly condemn the action of the Assam Police in issuing summons to
senior journalists S.Varadarajan and Karan Thapar of The Wire."
"The summons have been issued despite the Supreme Court granting protection in a related matter
only days earlier", he said.
