Chennai, Sept. 28 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, who airdashed to Karur via Trichy in thewee hours of today, returned to Chennai this morning after paying homage to the bodies of the deceasedand meeting the injured undergoing treatment at Karur Government Medical College Hospital.
A total of 39 people--17 men, 13 women and nine children (five girls, four boys)--were killed in the stampedecaused by the massive turn out at Vijay's public outreach programme at Karur last night.
While, 51 people who suffered injuries were undergoing treatment at Karur Government Medical Collegehospital, 30 others were being treated at private hospitals.
