Shillong, Jan. 6 -- Stakeholders at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has urged the union Ministry of Education (MoE) to appoint a senior-most professor as the Vice Chancellor to run the varsity.
In a joint letter to the Secretary of MoE, Vineet Joshi, the North-Eastern Hill University Teachers' Association (NEHUTA), NEHU Students' union (NEHUSU), NEHU Non-Teaching Staff Association (NEHUNSA), Meghalaya Tribal Teachers' Association (MeTTA-NEHU), and Khasi Students' union (KSU) NEHU Unit, noted with deep concern that the regular Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, has remained continuously out of station and absent from his official duties at the NEHU headquarters, Shillong, for 415 days.
