Patna, April 4 -- A special vigilance court on Friday sentenced one year imprisonment to staff of Electricity department in connection with bribery case.
Special vigilance judge Mohammad Rustam sentenced the then Accounts staff Surendra Chaudhary of Electricity Supply Division of Nalanda district, to one year of imprisonment after he was found guilty in the case. Chaudhary was also slapped fine of Rs ten thousand failing which he would have undergo additional imprisonment of one month.
According to prosecution, Chaudhary was caught red handed by sleuths of Bihar State Vigilance Bureau on September 6, 2007 while he was accepting Rs 1100 as bribe. He was under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
