Mumbai, Oct. 13 -- In a major pre-Diwali relief measure, the Maharashtra government has announced a special financial package for around 85,000 employees and officers of the State Transport (ST) Corporation.

The package includes a Rs 6,000 Diwali gift, a monthly payment of salary increment arrears, and a Rs 12,500 Diwali advance for eligible staff. Additionally, the government has sanctioned a monthly grant of Rs 65 crore to the Corporation to facilitate payment of salary increment differences.

The decisions were finalised during a high-level meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and attended by representatives from all ST employee organisations and action committees.
