Shimla, Sept. 20 -- Authorities in Shimla have ordered the temporary closure of St. Edward School, Himland, after a massive landslide occurred near the institution in the early hours of Friday.
The landslide, triggered by continuous rainfall over the past several days, struck around 2 a.m. on Friday, raising serious safety concerns for the school's students and staff.
In an official order issued under Section 30 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Shimla, Anupam Kashyap (IAS), directed the closure of the school on September 19 and 20 (Friday and Saturday).
