Chennai, Feb. 8 -- The Southern Railway on Saturday handed over an ex-gratia of
Rs 50,000 to a pregnant woman passenger, who was pushed out of a moving express
train after resisting a rape bid in the Ladies compartment.
A railway release said senior officials from Chennai Division of Southern Railway visited
the injured passenger (victim) at the hospital in Vellore today and gave her the ex-gratia
amount of Rs. 50,000.
Tej Partap Singh, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, handed over the asssitace to
the survivor in the presence of M. Bharat Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager,
and S.V.O. Chandrakumar, Chief Medical Superintendent of Chennai Division, Southern
Railway.
