Chennai, June 16 -- Southern Railway has become the first zone in Indian Railways to complete 100 per cent Automatic Block Signalling (ABS) work on Golden Quadrilateral/Golden Diagonal (GQ/GD) routes which covers 275 kms in the zone including Chennai-Renigunta (134 km) and Chennai-Arakkonam (141 km).
As of June 15, 2025, ABS has been successfully commissioned in the Puttur - Pudi section under Chennai Division covering over 33 km (18.73 km UP and 14.36 km DN lines) along with provision
of Electronic Interlocking System at Tadaku station with RDSO standard circuits.
With this, automatic signalling is now commissioned from Chennai to Renigunta, enabling seamless and more efficient train operations all the way up to Tirupati.
