Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 3 -- In a move reflecting growing cooperation among progressive movements in South Asia, Sri Lankan Minister for the Environment, Dr. Dammika Padabendi will attend the concluding rally of the CPI State Conference, scheduled in Alappuzha, Kerala, from September 8 to 12.
He will be accompanied by Devapriya Dahamanage, a prominent student leader from Sri Lanka, according to a message received at the CPI State Council office.
This marks the first time the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) will directly participate in a CPI program in Kerala, despite over a decade of fraternal relations between the two parties.
