Colombo, July 13 -- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) announced on Sunday that it will launch an awareness week from July 14 to July 18 to educate the public about the dangers of pyramid schemes, which have increased across the country in recent years.

The CBSL said that the campaign will highlight the risks of pyramid schemes, an illegal investment activity in Sri Lanka, and the threat they pose to individuals and the broader economy.

The campaign will take place in 6,172 schools and 14,022 Grama Niladhari divisions across the country, reaching both students and local communities, the bank said.
