Colombo, Dec. 11 -- The Sri Lankan government has proceeded to activate the emergency-response components embedded within the ongoing World Bank financed projects for accelerating the island nation's post-disaster recovery from the destructive onslaught of Cyclone Ditwah.
The cyclone has led to massive flooding, landslides, property destruction, loss of life, and major disruptions in transport and communication across the country.
The recent cyclone inflicted catastrophic damage to the island nation's agricultural land, public facilities, critical infrastructure and household livelihoods, in addition to dozens of deaths and causing mass displacement, reports domestic media.
