Chandigarh, Dec. 28 -- The highest temporal authority of the Sikhs, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, on Sunday issued a series of significant directives aimed at safeguarding Sikh religious traditions and institutions. The decisions were taken during a meeting of the five Sikh high priests, chaired by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj.

Addressing the media after the meeting, the Jathedar said that Anand Karaj ceremonies will now be permitted strictly within Gurdwaras. Conducting Sikh marriage ceremonies at parks, hotels, resorts, or other commercial and open venues has been completely prohibited.
