Bhuwaneshwar, Nov. 4 -- Authorities of Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha's Kendrapara district on Tuesday embarked on a drive to evict the unlawful occupiers of forest and revenue land by bulldozing illegal structures in villages within the park.

Roadside eateries and shops besides houses had come up illegally in land close to mangrove forest. These were demolished today with support extended by local police, said Jishukrishna Das the Tehsildar of Rajnagar.

The eviction was carried out strictly in conformity with law. The structures were out and illegal as these were built in encroached forest or revenue land. The encroachers were served notice asking them to produce lawful ownership rights of the land. They failed to furnish ownership...
