Guwahati, Jan. 13 -- The spirit of Magh Bihu, also known as Bhogali Bihu, has gripped Assam, with people of the state gearing up to celebrate the Uruka on Tuesday night.

Bhogali Bihu is the harvest festival celebrated across the eastern state after the end of the harvesting season. Uruka is the pre-Bhogali Bihu feast celebrated on the eve of Makar Sankranti.

Magh Bihu reflects the community's gratitude towards nature's bounty and it reminds the strong bond between farming life, food and community traditions across the state.
