New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- Imagine a spider using the light of its trapped prey to catch even more food - sounds like a nature mystery! A team of ecologists in Taiwan have found that a special kind of spider called Psechrus clavis uses the glowing light of fireflies stuck in its web to attract other insects.

Fireflies are known for their beautiful lights(bioluminescent beacons), which they use to find mates. But these spiders have found a clever way to turn that light to their advantage. When a firefly gets caught in the spider's web, it keeps glowing for up to an hour. This glowing acts like a signal, attracting other fireflies and insects towards the web, where the spider can catch them easily.
