Ranchi, Feb. 11 -- In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a high-speed car struck several people across different parts of Ranchi, causing chaos and panic in the city. According to police reports, instead of stopping after hitting pedestrians, the driver accelerated and attempted to flee the scene.
Police initiated a pursuit and attempted to intercept the vehicle near Baski village close to Kathal Mor.
When officers moved in to stop the car, the suspect allegedly tried to run over the police personnel, prompting the force to fire in self-defence to neutralise the threat.
During the exchange, one man inside the car was shot and injured. He has been taken into custody and admitted to hospital for treatment.
