Chandigarh, Sept. 5 -- The Punjab Government has undertaken special measures to ensure the safety and welfare of elderly citizens affected by the recent floods across the state.
According to Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, the Department of Social Security has identified 479 elderly individuals from flood-affected areas.
With the assistance of the district administrations and the Red Cross Society, support is being extended to these senior citizens to ensure their immediate needs are met.
Dr. Kaur stated that Old Age Homes across Punjab have the capacity to accommodate around 700 elderly persons and that any senior citizen in need may temporarily take shelter in these facilities.
