Ranchi, April 27 -- Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was on Saturday denied interim bail by a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi, in a land scam case.

The court of Special ED Judge Rajiv Ranjan did not allow Mr. Soren to attend the funeral of his uncle.

In the petition, he had urged the court to allow him to attend the funeral of his uncle. Along with this, he sought interim bail for 13 days from the court.

But the court did not grant him interim bail after hearing. After the court order, Hemant Soren will no longer be able to attend his uncle's funeral.

It is noteworthy that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren's elder brother Raja Ram Soren passed away on Saturday morning.
