Kakinada, June 17 -- District child welfare officer Ch Venkatrao said that a special drive was launched in the city to eradicate child labour.
The drive will continue till the month end and officials conduct thorough inspection of the shops and business establishments to identify the child labour, if any, and initiate action against the employers.
The child labour will be enrolled in schools duly counseling their parents. If orphans, they will be admitted into residential schools enlisting the support of philanthropists, he added.
He was addressing a special awareness session organised by the Adabala Trust in Ramanaiahpeta area here on Tuesday on eradication of child labour system.
