Mumbai, July 31 -- In a landmark verdict delivered 17 years after a series of deadly bomb blasts shook Malegaon, a Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court today acquitted all seven individuals who stood trial in the politically sensitive terrorism case.

Special Judge A.K. Lahoti pronounced the acquittals in connection with the September 8, 2006 attacks, which took place on the night of Shab-e-Baraat, a significant date in the Islamic calendar.

On that evening, three coordinated explosions struck crowded areas in Malegaon-specifically Bada Kabarastan, Mushawra Chowk, and Hamidiya Masjid-killing 37 people and injuring 312 others. The blasts targeted a densely populated town in Maharashtra, sending shockwaves across the country.
