Jaipur, Aug. 1 -- The people in flood affected areas of Rajasthan breathed a sigh of relief as the water level in the swollen Chambal river showed trend of receding in flood affected Dholpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur districts today.

According to reports reaching at the state headquarters here, water level in the Chambal downed by four meters over-night providing sigh of relief to denizens in about 60 villages of the district.

However, the flood situation prevailed and the relief and rescue operations by the Army, SDRF and the Civil Defence were going on in many villages and the low lying pockets of Sarmathura, Rajakheda, Saipau, Sahrola, Kainthari, Jhilara and Rajora
